Aww… I love him!
Three months? Can you believe it? I can’t.
Before, I always tended to roll my eyes a bit when parents declared that it “seemed like just yesterday” that their children were little. It always seemed so over dramatic to me, after all, time is time, isn’t it?
Oh, how mistaken I was. Sadly, sadly mistaken.
These three months seem like three weeks. No, they seem like three days. Three minutes!
A mere three months/minutes ago, Caleb was born. Read about his birth story here.
After five 1/2 hours of labor, with one great push, a baby, our baby, came into the world. Micah clutched my hand as the doctor lifted the baby up and declared, “We have a boy!”
A boy. A BOY!
From the very beginning of our pregnancy, Micah and I had decided to keep the gender a secret. Yet, somehow, we knew. When “Baby” would be kicking as Micah and I talked to it, we would say, “Hello in there, little one. We’re so excited to meet you. But you’d better be a boy, cause if you’re a girl then we’re sending you back!”
Is that horrible of us, or what? Kind of makes me wonder what would have happened if we had a girl after all??? That would have been especially bad since all my scrapbooks and blog posts were written using the “he” pronoun! That would be a LOT of rewriting!
God knew what He was doing. He knew that we wanted that big brother first for the rest of our future children.
That, and boys are just more FUN! Sure, you can dress up girls and play with dolls and tea parties, and I’m sure that our future daughters and I will have loads of fun, but for now… we would know what to do with a girl.
Our little boy. Our son. He wears camo and fire trucks, he plays with puppies and we play airplane with him… ZOOM!. All these memories of our handsome little man.
One of the funniest things about having Caleb is that he came out a white boy! You can clearly see from pictures that my husband, Micah, is, well, not white. Sure, he has white blood in him, but the native Eskimo is definitely most prominent. We fully expected to have a chubby, black-haired native baby. Instead, we have a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, white-as-white-can-be little boy. Huh? How did that happen?
Yet, in spite of his whiteness, Caleb does share so much with his Daddy. He got Micah’s enviously long eyelashes, his bushy eyebrows (though they are blonde, like mine!), his round nose, and his generous mouth and big, wide smile. All the best features, if you ask me.
But best of all, he got Micah’s personality. He is SUCH a happy, grinning baby. (Especially when listening to Glenn Beck! HA!) He is so friendly and will let anyone hold him, becoming best friends within minutes.
We can already tell that he’s going to be one hyperactive child as he wiggles ALL THE TIME. My nickname growing up with “Jello” if that gives you any indication of his future.
But it doesn’t matter how rambunctious he is, I wouldn’t trade my boo for anything.
So happy 3-month Birthday, Caleb. Mommy and Daddy love you SO much!
