One of my long-time dreams has been to visit the tulip fields while the flowers are in full bloom. White my favorite flowers are (for the most part) still gerbera daisies, other flowers have been to grow on me (Pardon the pun!), such as daffodils and tulips. When I began to make plans for my big Seattle trip, I happened to look up the dates for the tulip festival just out of curiosity. Now, keep in mind that this was after I had already purchased plan tickets and booked my hotel. Since I was also visiting family in addition to going to the workshop, I wanted to give myself plenty of time on both ends and set myself to fly in Monday instead of Wednesday like most of the other attendees were doing.
It just so happened that the last day of the Tulip Festival was on Tuesday.
Cross that one off my bucket list!
Really, though, words can barely describe just how happy I was standing there, gazing out over the rows and rows of tulips, all different colors of the rainbow. Sure, they weren’t at the peak of their season, sure it was muddy from the recent rain, but you know what? I didn’t care… all I knew is that one of my lifelong dreams had come true and that I was showing it with my children and those I loved.
It was a good day. Miracle of miracles, Caleb wanted to hold my hand! I love this picture…
