Meet Megan + Family
People often ask what brought me to Alaska; was I one of those people that came up here for fun and adventure or perhaps it was due to the military? With a wry smile, I tell them that my husband made me, which is partly true! My husband, Micah, was born and raised in Alaska and so when I married him, I married the Great Land. We moved up here as newlyweds and it’s been (almost) 10 wonderful years filled with adventures and experiences… and babies, which are an adventure of their own!
Fast forward two years and we felt it was the right time to give Caleb a little brother or sister. In fall of 2012, darling Samantha joined our little family. Oh, and we’ve since added a German Shepherd/Yellow Lab puppy, too! His name is Remington.
Now we’re currently expecting a little sister for Caleb and Samantha. Clara will be joining us in early August, though we’ll have to see if she arrives close to her due date like the other two. I am, of course, exhausted, swollen, and and feel like a waddling whale, but I am so excited for this new little one.
I love our simple, yet busy, life. Micah is a firefighter down at the local station and a tower technician for all those tall cell phone towers you see along the roadside. Meanwhile, I divide myself between my photography studio and taking care of our little ones, which includes homeschooling!
Blogging is the “me time” that keeps me on just this side of sanity. I have been blogging since spring of 2004 and oh, how the topics have changed over the years! I look back to those first few rambling posts and can’t help by laugh at my naive (and slightly dramatic) teenage self. On one hand, I can’t believe I’ve stuck with blogging for as long as I have, on the other hand, it feels like I’ve been blogging forever and I can’t imagine my life without it. Now, as the mom of two rambunctious little ones, with one more on the way, and a full time baby photographer I find myself enjoying the role of “occasional blogger.” I don’t write often, but I share what’s important to my heart.
